While Cypress photographer Patrick Talley has attended the Bayou City Art
Festivals for years, this October he will make his Bayou City Art Festival
Downtown debut, exhibiting photographs of flora and fauna from five continents.
He is among the 300
“best of the best” artists selected for the Oct. 10-11 Festival from the record-breaking 850
applicants from throughout the U.S. and Canada.
“Artists like Patrick Talley, who also exhibit commercially, represent the
exceptional quality of the field. The festival
’s artists truly transform downtown Houston into one-of-a-kind outdoor gallery,” said Kim Stoilis, executive director of the Art Colony Association, the
nonprofit festival presenter.
Bayou City Art Festival, which recently earned eight Texas Festivals & Events Association awards—including six first-place honors—was ranked the No. 3 art festival in the U.S. by the readers of AmericanStyle Magazine (February 2009).
Talley’s photography covers the globe, from the turquoise waters off the shore of
Belize, to a Vietnamese fishing boat to a close-up shot of a British Columbian
Grizzly Bear. He prides himself on the fact that he uses no Photoshop or
editing on his work, which encompasses digital as well as film photography.

Talley, who has published three photography books, has exhibited locally at the
Daily Brew in Cy-Fair. In addition, the single father of two has published a
parenting book and blogs on a local moms/parenting Web site.
Bayou City Art Festival Downtown, framed by Houston’s world-class skyline, boasts a highly acclaimed mix of visual, performing,
culinary and interactive arts, including the Capital One Bank Creative Zone for
children and families and the new Epicurean Adventure presented by Houstonian
Lite, featuring wine tastings and chefs
’ cooking demonstrations.
Tickets are $10 for adults and free for children 12 and under.
The city of Houston and Houston Parks & Recreation Department, Budweiser, Capital One Bank, KTRK-TV, Houston Chronicle and Houstonian Lite are among the festival sponsors. The festival is funded in
part by grants from the City of Houston through Houston Arts Alliance. Over the
past 37 years, the Art Colony Association has raised more than $2.5 million for
local nonprofit organizations.
