Sept. 10, Oct. 8, Nov. 12: OASIS! features speaker Shannon Perry and her women’s conference, “If the Shoe Fits.”  This three-part series touches on a variety of women’s issues and overcoming adversity.  The event will be held at Cypress Bible Church; cypressbible.org.

Sept. 12: Shop Til You Drop Arts and Crafts Market will be held at the Berry Center. This annual event is hosted by the Copperfield Women ’s Club and highlights thousands of unique handcrafted items made by local artisans.
The Astros Wives Gala, held on Aug.6, marked the event’s 20th anniversary with bold splashes of black, white and yellow set on the field at Minute Maid Park. As Craig Biggio escorted his wife, Patty, to the stage, emcee Milo Hamilton recognized Patty and Nancy Caminiti (not present) as the founders of the organization, hosting the first gala in 1990. Pamela Michaels and Michelle Quintero chaired the event while Elizabeth and Drayton McLane served as the Honorary Chairpersons.
Cy-Fair was fairly represented at the milestone event with a number of attendees. Sandra Aultman bid enthusiastically on auction items, taking home a unique Johnny Cash collage and granting “wishes,” which sponsored much needed services provided by the center. Event sponsor David Huntington purchased the Premium Sports Package only to donate it back to the auctioneer so it could be sold again, raising more funds for the evening ’s beneficiary, Houston Area Women’s Center.
The live auction was full of excitement as Vikki Vines auctioned 14 items—three of which were surprisingly duplicated that night by the donors! Big auction winners included Lisa and Paul Hill, Patricia and Randall Swearingen, and Wallis Marsh, who was not able to attend the event, but placed his bid via telephone for a Babe Ruth signed baseball.
