LANGHAM CREEK HIGH SCHOOL THEATRE ENSEMBLE 2009-10 SEASON
Langham Creek High School Theatre Ensemble announced its 2009-10 season
featuring several contemporary plays. All performances will be at Langham Creek
High School, 17610 FM 529. General admission tickets are $10; students and
seniors $8.
The season kicks off with the Fresh Faces: Collective Dating on Sept. 17-18. In this series of five short plays, the Ensemble officers will
direct theater newcomers. Each play centers around different dating scenario,
presenting them in a comedic way.
Moon Over Buffalo takes the main stage on Nov. 5-7 and Nov. 13-14. This romantic comedy takes
place in 1953 and centers on a dysfunctional acting couple, as they attempt to
make it to Broadway.
Proof will take the stage from Dec. 10-12. Proof received the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 2001, as well as the Tony Award for
best play in the same year.
Proof centers around Catherine, the daughter of a famous, eccentric, mathematician
named Robert. Following Robert
’s death, Catherine is forced to deal with her own emotions, as well as the
arrival of her nitpicking sister.
The Complete Works of William Shakespeare (Abridged) by The Reduced Shakespeare Company will be performed on Feb. 4-6 and Feb. 12-13.
Do not be alarmed by the mention of Shakespeare
’s name; this is not an English class reading of his plays. In 90 minutes, the
entire collection of Shakespeare
’s plays is performed in a very comedic and entertaining way.
