SHOP TIL YOU DROP
Despite the gloomy weather and economy, Cy-Fair residents proudly supported the Copperfield Women ’s Club by attending “Shop ’til you Drop,” the organization’s annual craft fair. Volunteer students from Cy-Falls High School were on hand as 4,000 shoppers entered the doors of the Berry Center to peruse the unique items being sold by more than 206 vendors.
With the community in mind, Delores Navarro founded the event in 1983, holding it in a local church with only 20 tables to display vendor items. Monies raised over the years have provided scholarships for students attending Cy-Fair high schools and Lone Star College - Cy Fair. Funds are also donated to local organizations, neighborhood swim teams, project proms, police and fire stations and individual families in need.
Meetings are held on the first Thursday of every month and the group welcomes women living in Copperfield or surrounding neighborhoods.
5) Volunteer coordinator Gracie Garza; event chairperson Debbie Dinderman; President Susan Bartos; and vendor organizer Elana McCreery.
6) With coffee in hand, Stacie Blackburn and Karen McConaughey arrive early to start their shopping.
7) Deedee Jones considers a purchase as Kaylin Jones and Linda Burton look on.
8) First timers to the craft fair Jody Hollers, Lori Brenner and Annette Brenner admire all of the beautiful items.
9) Grandmother Nancy Swanson, daughter Heidi Morgan and granddaughter Kate Morgan spent the fun day together.
