Jericia and Brett Havekost opened their home to “Shop for a Cure for Cancer!” Having suffered loss of friends and family from cancer, the Havekosts had a
desire to help raise funds for research. With the holidays around the corner,
they saw an opportunity to also serve the community by providing an assortment
of shopping at one easy stop.

SUGAR PIE DINNERS
Reminiscent of days of old, women from Cy-Fair gathered together to prepare
meals, not only for their own families, but for the mercy kitchen of West
Houston Church of Christ. The best part
… the women had a great time chopping and combining ingredients for delicious
meals to store in their own freezers while fellowshipping with other women. The

CAP BREAKS GROUND
FOR NEW SHELTER!
Citizens for Animal Protection provides shelter, adoption, foster care, rescue
and other valuable services to animals in need in the Houston area. The $7.5
million project includes a 3.5-acre campus and a state-of-the-art
21,000-square-foot facility that will be located on I-10 and Barker- Clodine
—easily accessible to residents of Harris, Fort Bend and Waller counties.

REACH FOR
THE STARS GALA
Six hundred-fifty guests helped raise over $400,000 for Reach Unlimited at the
annual Reach for the Stars fundraising luncheon. Reach Unlimited is a nonprofit
agency providing quality support services for people with intellectual and
developmental disabilities in the greater Houston northwest.

LONE STAR COLLEGE – CYFAIR
The fifth annual CyFest, hosted by Lone Star College – CyFair, was held at the Barker Cypress campus on West Road. Families enjoyed
free food and games along with moonwalks, a pony carousel, petting zoo, crafts,
rock wall, the Bosque gallery
’s art exhibition and much more. Area companies sponsored the community event
that also provided information on area non-profit organizations, the college's
continuing education courses, the Academy for Lifelong Learners, studying
abroad as well as many workforce and academic certificate programs.
