Construction is well under way on Houston’s fifth Pink Ribbon House®, a designer showcase home being built to “raise the roof” for breast cancer research. Benefiting the Lester and Sue Smith Breast Center
at Baylor College of Medicine, the multi-million dollar showcase home
—located at 10807 Bridlewood Street in Hunters Creek Village—will be open for public tours April 16-18 and April 23-25. Chairs for the 2010
Pink Ribbon House are Deb Parks, Trish Hayes and Gail Rauhut. Honorary chairs
are Diane and John Riley.
Established in 2003 by the Breast Center Advisory Council at BCM, the Pink
Ribbon House project raises funds and awareness for breast cancer research and
patient care at BCM through the design, decorating and touring of showcase
homes. Since its founding, the Pink Ribbon House project has raised more than
$2 million for breast cancer research at BCM.
Built by Levitt Partnership, Ltd. and marketed by Ann Lerner, listing agent with
John Daugherty Realtors, the 6,000-square-foot stone and stucco French
Country-style home will feature 5 bedrooms, 6.5 bathrooms, vaulted ceilings, a
fabulous walk-through wine room and an outdoor kitchen with a fireplace.
Well-known Houston designers Cindy Dickerson, Julie Dodson, Trish Dodson, Katie
Galliano, Leslie Sinclair, Suzanne Duin, Julie Blailock, Leslie Strauss and
Christine Ho will decorate the home, listed for $2,725,000. Following public
tours, the house will be sold. Tour tickets are $15 and will be available at
the door.
A preview party scheduled for April 10 will give Houstonians a first-hand look
at the

house. For ticket information, visit www.connect.bcm.edu/pinkribbonhouse.
Funds raised from sponsors, individual donations, donations of products and
services in the building of the home, special event tickets and tour tickets
will benefit the Lester and Sue Smith Breast Center at BCM. The event is
expected to raise more than $350,000 for breast cancer research and patient
care.
Deb Parks, 2010 Pink Ribbon House chair, cites the importance of cutting edge research in finding a cure to a
disease that strikes one in eight women.
“I want breast cancer to be the polio or smallpox of my granddaughter’s generation—something of the past,” Parks said. “Innovative research is the only way to eradicate breast cancer, and BCM’s Smith Breast Center is at the forefront of research aimed at finding a cure
for this disease.
”
Internationally recognized for his work in breast cancer research, Dr. C. Kent
Osborne is the director of the Dan L. Duncan Cancer Center at BCM, and
the Smith Breast Center. Dr. Osborne and his renowned team of researchers
established the Breast Center in 1999 and are noted for their work in breast
cancer prevention, detection and treatment. Their research program has been
designated by the National Cancer Institute as one of nine Specialized Programs
