Workforce Solutions will present two free workshops at the Barbara Bush Branch in March from 1:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m. On March 4, “Creating References, Cover Letters and Thank You Notes” will teach you how to create a job reference page, cover letter and write a thank you note after the interview.
On March18, the seminar will cover “Evaluating Your Skills and Developing a Job Search Plan.” Determine your marketable skills, learn to communicate your skills and identify employment priorities. The library is located at 6817 Cypresswood Drive in Spring. Call 281-376-4610 for more information. No registration is required.

Cy-woods high school seniors
Wildcats Right After Prom will hold monthly meetings on March 4, April 8, April 22, May 6 and May 20 at 7 p.m. in the Cy-Woods High School commons.
WRAP 2010 is sponsoring a fundraiser to leave a legacy for the future classes of Cy-Woods High School. A life-size bronze wildcat will be mounted on a base that will include all class of 2010 senior student donor names. The cost of participating is $50. Order forms are available at the VIPS window or go to cywoodswrap.org.
Cy Woods Snuggie’s are $25 and will be sold at the VIPS window on Tuesdays and Thursdays during lunches. Parents can also download the order form from the Web site and mail it to WRAP with a check and their student can pick it up during VIPS sales or at the next WRAP parent meeting.

Princeton Review SAT Prep Classes will be held on March 13 and March 20. Registration is required.
Sam T’s SAT Prep is scheduled for March 6-7 from 1 p.m.-3 p.m.

Events at the Northwest Library in Cypress during the month of March include: AARP Free Tax Assistance every Thursday and Friday from 1 p.m.-5 p.m. and Saturday from 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
Cypress Creek High School presents a story and craft for children on March 27 at 10:30 a.m.
The Hallelujah Book Club will meet on March 1 at 2 p.m. Enjoy reading and discussing works of Christian fiction that are on the market today.
Mahjong for Adults will meet on March 1 at 2 p.m. Learn how to play the classic Eastern game of Mahjong. Space is limited so call ahead to reserve a spot.
Computer Comedy Classes for beginners will be held every Tuesday at 10 a.m. Classes are designed for beginning computer users with a specific topic every week.
Preschool Story Time is held on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. and11:30 a.m. The children will hear stories, sing songs and make a craft.
Northwest Library Chess and Go Club meets on Tuesdays at 4 p.m. Individuals of all ages can enjoy friendly games of Chess and Go. Anyone wishing to learn how to play or individuals wanting to improve their game can come and receive instruction and lessons.

Houston family art center
presents
Oliver! and dinner show, beginning march 5
Oliver!, a musical based on the novel Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. will be presented on March 5-6 at 8 p.m.; March 7 at 3 p.m.; March 12 at 8 p.m.; March 13 at 3 p.m. and 8 p.m.; and March 14 at 3 p.m. Performances are held at the Berry Center, 8877 Barker Cypress Road.
Songs for a New World, a dinner and dessert show, will be held on March 26-27. Songs are by Tony Award winning composer Jason Robert Brown. There will be cabaret-style seating with tables and candle-light and a formal hors d ’oeuvres buffet. The buffet opens at 6:30 pm. and the show begins at 7:30 p.m. Dessert will be served at intermission. Performances will be held at Houston Family Arts Center Garza Main Stage, 10760 Grant Road. Tickets are $35. A dessert only option is available for $20.

charity gala

Leslie Alexander and The Houston Rockets present the 2010 Tux & Tennies Charity Gala on March 4 at Toyota Center. The doors open at 6:30 p.m. with a silent auction; dinner, program and live auction begin at 8 p.m.
Proceeds benefit Children’s Memorial Hermann Hospital and HEARTS: Houston Early Age Risk Testing and Screening.

“MusicNCompany” at LSC-CyFair
Add a little music to your month with the “MusicNCompany” concert set for March 11 at Lone Star College-CyFair.
Enjoy the LSC-CyFair Symphonic Band under the direction of Dr. John Wolfskill, Percussion One Drumline performances under the direction of Lamar Burkhalter and the Community Band under the direction of Dee Dee Flores.
The 7:30 p.m. concert will be held in the Main Stage Theatre, located in the Center for the Arts building on the Barker Cypress campus at 9191 Barker Cypress.

springfest 2010
Reach Springfest 2010 will be held on March 27 from 9:30 a.m.-noon at the Learning Activity Center on Mueller Cemetery Road.
This year’s theme for the festival is “Warm My Heart, Not My Planet.” There will be free tree seedlings and purchasable art from recycled materials, along with games, music, lunch and a walk-a-thon.
All proceeds go to Reach Unlimited, a comprehensive provider of quality support services for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

wee wuns golf tourney
The Wee Wuns 8th Annual Golf Tournament will be held on April 23 at 8 a.m. at Longwood Golf Club, 12345 Longwood Trace. This year ’s tournament will have its traditional $10,000 Hole in One contest along with breakfast and lunch.
All proceeds go toward school supplies, playground improvements, teacher training and more for the weekday preschool at Cypress United Methodist Church. Sponsorships are available.

Supplying smiles kick off school supply event
Supplying Smiles, a nonprofit organization founded by concerned Houstonians to help provide school supplies for students in need, will host a launch party on April 21 from 6 p.m.-7:30 p.m. at Houston Distributing, 7100 High Life Drive.
Share cocktails and canapes and learn how to participate in Supplying Smiles. Donations to the organization will go toward helping disadvantaged students within Cy Fair ISD.

Scheduled for Saturday, April 10, The Cross Creek Ranch Arts Festival is issuing a call to artists working in all media.
Visitors to the festival will be able to view and purchase work from the area’s finest painters, jewelers, metal artists, sculptors, pastelists, photographers and ceramic artists.
The Cross Creek Ranch Art Festival will be located in Fulshear, west of Houston, off FM 1093 at 6450 Cross Creek Bend Lane.
