Bands Receive First Division at UIL Contest - All Cy-Fair ISD varsity concert bands received first division status at the
UIL Region 27 Concert and Sight-Reading competition. The
competition uses three judges to measure students’ abilities by giving them a rating of first (the highest) through fifth
divisions.
Receiving a “first division” means the performance was rated superior by the panel of judges, the music was
executed at a high level and the students are fundamentally sound on their
instruments.
“Having all the high school varsity groups receive this UIL award shows the fine
teaching of our directors and the expertise of our students,
” said Larry Matysiak, Cy-Fair ISD director of secondary music. “It also shows that high standards are evident at each campus in the district.”
