Track and Field Athletes Qualify for Regionals - The Cypress Creek High School boys and Cy-Fair High School girls track and field teams won their respective team competitions in the District 15-5A Track and Field meet.
In the boys’ competition, Cypress Creek placed first with 120 points, followed by Cypress Springs with 109 and Cypress Woods with 101.
In the girls’ competition, Cy-Fair won with 141.5 points, followed by Cypress Creek and Cypress Woods in a tie with 119 points.

Cy Woods Programmers Take Second at State - The Cypress Woods High School computer science team placed second at the Texas Computer Education Association State High School Programming Contest.
The programming contest incorporated electronic submission of solutions using PC2 software. More than 70 teams attempted to solve 18 problems in three levels of difficulty within a two-hour time limit by writing, debugging and submitting their own computer programs for each problem.
Cypress Woods earned 96 of 96 possible points to tie for first place with Friendswood, Seven Lakes and Clements, but lost the tiebreaker to Friendswood by taking more time to submit its solutions. Seven Lakes and Clements finished third and fourth, respectively.
Cypress Woods’ team consists of seniors Austin Baker, Kevin Thrift and Bradlee Burrus.


Cy Falls, Jersey Village Win National Journalism Awards - Students from Cypress Falls and Jersey Village high schools were named winners in the Quill and Scroll 2009 International Writing and Photo contest.
Cypress Falls senior Andy Tittle was a two-time winner in the Sports Photography category for his entries, Big Play and Through the Block.
Jersey Village junior Jacqui Bontke was a national winner in the Editorial Writing category for her entry, Swept Under the Radar.
Quill and Scroll is an international honorary society for high school journalists. The competition was co-sponsored by the American Society of Newspaper Editors.
Cypress Falls also had two additional national honors from journalism organizations. Senior Kendall Popelsky was runner-up in the Journalism Educators Association National High School Journalist of the Year competition. Popelsky qualified for the competition by being named Texas Association of Journalism Educators Texas High School Journalist of the Year in March.
The Golden Eagle yearbook staff received fourth place in the Spring 2009 National Scholastic Press Association competition.
