Bridgeland Touts Successful Blood Drive. Bridgeland residents and visitors gave the ultimate gift to help save as many as
54 lives during a community blood drive. The Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center
’s blood mobile parked at Bridgeland’s Welcome Center to take donations. Staffers collected 16 units of whole blood
and two units of double red cells.
“It was a successful afternoon at Bridgeland thanks to the efforts of Bridgeland
and the contributions of the donors,
” said the Blood Center’s Gary Moore.
The blood mobile will return to the community on Sept. 26 during Nature Fest
activities.
Rotary Club of Cypress-Fairbanks Installs New Officers. The Rotary Club of Cypress-Fairbanks installed its officers for the upcoming
year. Officers for 2009-10 are
Keith Peterson, president; Gary Gray, president-elect; Justin Jenkins, secretary; Vickie Botkin, treasurer; and Glen Knight, sergeant-at-arms.
Peterson, a resident of the Cy-Fair community since 1993, is serving as club
president for the second time in 10 years.
Annual golf tournament raises money for eric bassett scholarship fund. The annual golf tournament benefiting the Eric Bassett Scholarship Fund was a
sold-out event that raised more than $25,000. Big winners of the tournament
were foursome
Darryl Heafner, Tate Cunningham, Neil Mendes and Robert Meyer.
Dinner was followed by a live auction where the rental of a secluded, three
bedroom home on Lake Conroe was battled over between two bidders. The homeowner
agreed to donate the use of the home twice to accommodate both couples.
The Eric Bassett Scholarship Fund provides a $20,000, four-year scholarship
annually to a deserving Cypress-area high school graduate to aid in his or her
advanced education. This year
’s recipient is Wesley Ryan, a Cy-Fair High School graduate who will attend Texas A&M.
