Cy-Fair Lifestyles & Homes April 2009
Klebs woods nature Preserve site for service projects. The Kleb Woods Nature Preserve has been the site for several service projects. The first began with a  two-weekend Eagle Scout project followed by a Rosehill Christian School outing and service project. The outing was in celebration of Texas Independence Day, and the class planted a Republic of Texas orange tree near the Kleb Farm House.
This heritage variety orange was developed and used by early Texans during the Republic years of the early 1840s. The class also helped  with some Japanese Privet control along the farm trail.
On another day, volunteers came to Kleb Woods to separate lumber salvaged from a 110+ year-old smoke house, which will be used to complete the barn ’s exterior siding.
Volunteers also worked at Cypress Top, tending flower beds, watering trees and working on miscellaneous tasks in the hall and store.
The docents of the Cypress Historical Society conducted tours for groups of drop-in visitors as well. Cypress Top Park museums are open Tuesdays from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. The park is open daily from 7 a.m. until dusk.
Boy Scouts and their dads participate in an Eagle
project at Klebs Woods Nature Reserve.

Endowment partners establish scholarships for cy-Fair isd students. The Cy-Fair Educational Foundation’s board of trustees took a bold step in April of 2008 creating a solid Endowment Program in order to encourage companies and individuals to establish endowed scholarships for students in the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District.
CFEF committed to the goal of adding $200,000 each year in endowed scholarships to the fund. To date, more than $100,000 has been committed by individuals, companies and organizations to the Endowment Program. Endowed funds are invested in total, and each year only a portion of the invested income earned is spent while the remainder is added to the original principal.
Endowments may be established in the amounts of $20,000, $50,000, $100,000 or more and can be named for private individuals, corporations and organizations, in memory of individuals and in honor of individuals. A scholarship will be awarded on an annual basis once the endowment is fully funded. Donors have seven years in which to fully fund their endowment.

1st Annual “Salute to Our Heroes.” The first annual Cy-Fair Education Foundation “Salute to Our Heroes” fund-raiser event honored the brave men and women who served to preserve one’s freedom and liberty.
The evening was emceed by Houston Astros announcer Bill Brown and opened with the Presentation of Colors and Missing Man Table Ceremony presented by the 75th Division of the U.S. Army. Highlights of the program were performances by the Texas A &M Cadet Singers and Texas singer/songwriter Brian Burns.
The evening also included inspirational speakers, event co-chairs Edward Station and Ed Hogan, Justin Ray, brother of Jeremy Ray, and chairman of the board Fred Caldwell.
More than 300 people came to honor this nation’s heroes. More than $36,000 was raised at this first-time event; proceeds will go to an endowment in the memory of fallen soldiers, enabling graduating students from Cy-Fair ISD to attend college.
