Girl Scouts of America
Everybody truly does love Girl Scout Cookies! During this cookie season, Troop 15157 enjoyed selling from their local cookie booth when a generous customer purchased every box of cookies that the troop had left with the condition that the cookies be delivered to Ainsley Courte —a Cypress retirement community. The girls were delighted to take the confections to the assisted living facility and visit with the elderly. Thanks to that local Samaritan —what a great lesson for the girls and a real treat for those at Ainsley Courte.

Girl Scout Troop 15306 was delighted to be part of the 32nd Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade, benefiting Cypress Creek EMS. Walking the 3.5-mile course, dressed in home-made finery, the girls promoted their cookies to over 75,000 spectators and showing their support of Cypress Creek EMS, a volunteer based 9-1-1 ambulance service covering 250 square miles of North/Northwest Harris County. They respond to approximately 30,000 calls annually and serve more than 50,000 people.

2010 Houston Ballet Ball
Jana and Richard Fant along with Laura and John Spalding hosted the 2010 Ballet Ball, honoring John and Becca Thrash. The event, featuring a cocktail reception, silent auction, dinner and dancing, benefits the Houston Ballet Foundation, which was founded in 1955 with the vision to create a resident ballet company and to start a school that would train its dancers. Major underwriters of the event included Margaret Alkek Williams, John and Becca Cason Thrash, Continental Airlines, Fayez Sarofim & Co., Jana and Richard Fant and Laura and John Spalding. Auction chairmen Lara Bell, Kristen J. Cannon and Roseann Rogers brought to the Ballet several extraordinary items, helping the event raise over $700,000 for the foundation.

Team Tiara Foundation
This year marks the fifth year Team Tiara will be walking 60 miles in the Breast Cancer 3-Day. They will sleep in pink tents and shower in converted semi-trucks for the event, in an effort to raise money to fund breast cancer research, education for this devastating disease, and outreach services to those affected by it. To date, they have raised more than $270,000; their goal for 2010 is to have 100 walkers on their team, and to raise $250,000.
Team Tiara is a nonprofit foundation that has been featured on Channel 2 (click2houston.com), also provides real-time assistance to men and women whose lives have been touched by breast cancer; 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime and almost 2000 men will be diagnosed with breast cancer this year. They provide mammograms for those without health insurance —in lieu of having to wait months to get lumps checked, which could mean the difference between a Stage 1 diagnosis and a Stage 3 or 4 diagnosis.
Team Tiara Foundation will host a “Whole New Way To Live” event in October at the Wyndhaven Terrace Banquet Facility. The evening will include food, drink, entertainment and auction. For more information, go to www.teamtiara.net.

Family Fun Night
Adam PTO hosted over 1,500 guests for its annual community carnival. The event, partly underwritten by Texas Roadhouse, Goode Co. BBQ, Papa John ’s Pizza and Houston Oaks Golf Club, included amusements, games, bake sale, live and silent auction and an exciting drawing. Live music was provided for the crowd by Thomas Kibodeaux and Jason Cassidy, and the students were able to show off square dancing to their parents and friends. Cy Fair Volunteer Fire Department was also a fun addition, giving the kiddos free tours of the fire engine. Young adult volunteers from area high schools including Cy Fair Key Club and National Honor Society, Cy Falls Key Club, Cy Woods Key Club, Cy Creek Key Club and CATSS, and Boy Scout Troop 1014 made the evening a resounding success.

7) Andrew and Martin have a hootin’ and hollerin’ great time at Adam FFN.
8) Local singer, songwriter and Cy Fair student, Darbi Lacagnina, entertained the crowd.
9) Sami, Noah and Matthew enjoy the festivities.
